01 / CONTEXTTHE SYMBOL

It was a pirate flag.
Then it meant more.

The Straw Hat Jolly Roger comes from One Piece. In 2025, the skull-and-straw-hat emblem began appearing in youth-led demonstrations across several countries, where people gave the familiar symbol new meanings tied to dissent, accountability and solidarity.

This project is a visual index of public reporting—not an official account of any movement, and not an endorsement of every cause associated with the flag.

03 / THE IDEA

Different streets.
Different reasons.
One unmistakable flag.

The symbol doesn’t make every movement the same. It gives people a familiar visual language—and every place gives it a different context.
